we are in Burkina Faso

After leaving ECOWAS, Burkina Faso has just achieved a remarkable achievement, surpassing Côte d'Ivoire, Nigeria, and many other African countries in a prestigious ranking. Indeed, according to the 2024 Open Data Watch global ranking, Burkina Faso ranks first in West Africa and second on the continent, just behind Morocco and well ahead of Côte d'Ivoire and Nigeria. The ranking is based on the assessment conducted by the Open Data Inventory (ODIN), which analyzes the quality of national statistical systems through data made available on official platforms. Burkina Faso achieved an overall score of 77 out of 100, thanks to the quality of its statistical platform, considered among the best on the continent. According to Adama Nabayaogo, Senior Administrator of Open Data Burkina Faso, two criteria were decisive in this assessment: open data and coverage of statistical topics.  These results demonstrate the work accomplished by Burkinabe institutions to improve the collection and d...

Liptako-Gourma of the Sahel

  - "Liptako-Gourma" is a cross-border region located at the crossroads of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, in the heart of the Sahel. Covering 370,000 km², it stretches across arid and landlocked areas, crossed by the Niger River for 1,400 km. This region, characterized by a semi-arid climate, is historically rich but economically marginalized. The Sahara, meanwhile, is the world's largest hot desert, stretching 8.5 million km² across North Africa, from Morocco to Egypt, Algeria, Libya, and Niger.  It is a mosaic of landscapes, from dunes to rocky plateaus, where underground resources contrast with surface poverty.   - Liptako-Gourma Charter establishing the Alliance of Sahel States between Burkina Faso, the Republic of Mali, and the Republic of Niger. On September 16, 2023, three Sahel states—Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger—formed an alliance. Ibrahim Traore in Moscow

Today in the world, it is really difficult not to hear about Ibrahim Traore, the president of Burkina Faso. It is not the first time that I.B, as the Burkinabe population calls him, has made a sensation in the media.  In 2023, at a summit organized by Russia that IB participated in, he made a speech that many observers qualified as brilliant, historic and according to some others disrespectful, but I say it is a reminder of order. In his speech at the 2nd Russia-Africa Summit, Ibrahim Traoré highlighted the profound changes underway in his country and in Africa. He emphasized the need to seize opportunities arising from political, economic, and social developments to create a better future.    He highlighted the growing autonomy of African nations and called for enhanced regional cooperation and the responsible exploitation of the continent's resources. His speech reflected the hope and determination of Africans to shape their own destiny, while inviting the ...

A light at the end of the tunnel.

In the context where Africa as a continent is looking for development and infrastructure, many opportunities are presented every day.  African countries often, if not always, encounter financing problems when it comes to agro-industrial development. There are many public figures who make statements and express their desire for African countries to remain underdeveloped, a country that provides raw materials for other countries to transform.  All this is not a fatality because from many other perspectives, the BRICS+ countries are one of the exit doors for African countries.  Will the continent seize the opportunities proposed by the BRICS+ countries? An axis that is developing very well is Russia-AES. Cooperating with the BRICS+ countries is an opportunity that the AES countries must seize to escape from the French colonial yoke, which is playing every maneuver to keep the former colonies in a state of poverty and thus the system of exploitation will remain.  What ca...
