Riverdale








"Riverdale" began as a highly promising series with a plot that was dark, mysterious, and, above all, gripping. However, over the seasons, the show experienced its ups and downs, with some plots succeeding and others less convincing.



It still has qualities, especially visual ones, the sets, the outfits, the lights, the atmosphere, even the shots and the editing are good, the soundtrack is also great and the characters are interesting despite the weak point of the series which is the scenario, which is often far-fetched, not very interesting, drags on and with very disappointing resolutions.
 














Attempts at renewal, such as time jumps and parallel worlds, weren't always successful and were often too far-fetched. Despite its flaws, "Riverdale" managed to deliver memorable moments, strong characters, and was for a time one of the best teen drama series, but it's undeniable that it has declined in quality over time.





"Riverdale" disappointed in its final seasons, and it's with its seventh and final season that the series is (finally) taking its final bow. With a new attempt at starting from scratch (after its first failed attempt in season 5), the show is attempting to regain the popularity of its beginnings. 

 

Unfortunately, it's in vain, because this final season, which perseveres at all costs with its far-fetched time-shock plot, once again repeats the regrettable mistakes of previous seasons. Less-than-exciting stories and more than repetitive relationships really give the impression that the show doesn't know what else to say, even though there's still plenty to do.



There's a certain generosity in the development of the plots and revelations. Visually, it's not bad, with a very teen-oriented style.


The biggest flaws come from the writing. Betty's character is probably the worst, both in terms of writing and acting. The archetype of the gay character is quite disturbing in its treatment. The adults are quite annoying, and it's hard to take them seriously because their behavior is so irresponsible; the show would have benefited from focusing on the teenagers, whose stupidity is more easily forgiven.


I've never fast-forwarded through episodes of a show as much as I did with Riverdale.
The "musical comedy" scenes are unbearable... If I wanted to watch a show like this, I'd dive back into Glee, where the actors have real talent and beautiful voices, but in Riverdale, that's not the case...
I don't understand this insistence on subjecting us to these long and unbearable scenes.


The Archie-Veronica couple is unbearable. I can't see myself in either of them anymore.
This show is basically supposed to be about teenagers, but their behavior is that of adults... Not believable at all! Too many mannerisms, too many totally improbable things, behaviors that teenagers would never exhibit...
















As for the leap into the future in season 5, you'd think the behaviors would be more appropriate, but it's so poorly acted and exaggerated that you don't believe it...
Season 5 is certainly one of the worst of the series...

We're going around in circles...
As for the last season, with the twist in the story, you'd think it would get better, but we're going around in circles as usual, with the same terrible acting, and a Veronica even more unbearable than before! Ego-wise, I don't think she's getting any more exposure!
In short, move on, you'll waste precious time.
I wanted to persist in seeing it through to the end, hoping there would be an improvement, but no...



I wouldn't say Riverdale is a perfect show, far from it. However, I think it deserves to be immersed. But I also think you shouldn't be too harsh on this show, which always tries a little harder to offer a celebration of life and the passage of time.
